Skin Needling/Derma Roller/ Micro Needling/ Derma Pen....so many different names you will hear! but the ultimate goal of this treatment is to achieve better skin with even skin tones.
What exactly this procedure is ?
Piercing your skin with a bunch of tiny little needles, may not sound appealing at first but it has great benefits for your skin. Some may be discouraged by the thought of their facial skin harboring hundreds of tiny holes, but derma rollers leave the epidermis fully intact. The tiny holes close within just a few hours of application. Within those few hours, the skin’s lower layers are able produce new collagen structures giving the skin a rejuvenated, younger appearance
Derma rollers are known to be an effective treatment against aging elements like wrinkles, fine lines and skin stretching. They can help to thicken the skin, smooth facial scars and diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The magic lies within the fine needles that penetrate the skin as it is rolled across the surface. The tiny pinpricks help to stimulate collagen and elastin production which aid in plumping the skin in problem areas such as laugh line areas or forehead wrinkles.
What about the pain ?
A topical anesthetic is typically applied prior to the treatment. This allows for a comfortable experience for most people. Generally, patients report feeling just the slight pricks.
When I agreed to let the Dr. roll hundreds of tiny needles on my face, I was not sure what to expect!!. Medical strength topical anesthetic was applied to my face . I had to wait 45 minutes for it to do it's magic so I can get the treatment. Now It was the time for the needles to do their work. Dr. started rolling the device on my jaw line. it did not hurt. little by little roller moved on my entire face...what I felt was some pressure and tiny pricks ( totally bearable!! ) I felt a little more on my cheek bones and my forehead! again nothing extreme that would make you cry! They don't just say " No Pain No Gain " This treatment does not take long. After few passes of the roller on my face..my face was definitely red and I felt somewhat sensitive to touch!
Is it Worth the Pain and Money ?
I am committed to get it done again in few weeks! Next day my face was little red but nothing noticeable that you have to hide out!
Hydration is the key after the treatment. My favorite Hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid was exactly the thing my face needed. in the moment you might doubt your decision but later on you would be glad you did that.
